Brian Herrity

To see Brian Herrity now, you might have a hard time imagining him in high school, playing in a punk rock band. This clean-cut and polished MC/DJ, who is equally comfortable performing at a wedding as he is at a nightclub, spends an inordinate amount of time prepping for his events–curating each playlist with precision and passion. One of his favorite parts is mixing in some of the greatest songs that most people don’t realize they want to hear. While we don’t have an official name for these types of songs yet, we can describe them as the “OMG-I-forgot-how-much-I-love-this-song” songs. As Brian puts it, “You know the music that everyone expects to hear so it’s fun to balance it out with some songs that are a little less expected, but get just as big of a crowd reaction.”

That attention to detail and love for his craft can be traced right back to high school and his band. That group of kids took themselves seriously, and approached each show accordingly. Brian would painstakingly arrange the set list, factoring in the venue, the demographic, the time of night, and even who was performing before and/or after them. Even as a teeneager, he understood that placing each piece of the puzzle in the right spot would lead to a great performance and, more importantly, a great experience for those in the crowd.

When asked where he got that sense of the moment, his answer was clear: his dad. Watching how his dad hosted family, friends, and neighbors throughout the years taught Brian something valuable. “I learned how much joy it brings me to help others,” Brian explains, “and when you put people first, things usually work out for the best.”  Brian also credits his family for exposing him to eclectic and diverse music when he was a kid. It’s allowed him to feel just as confident playing yacht-rock as he is playing a full futuristic-vintage electronic set.

So if you’re lucky to have Brian Herrity at your event, you can trust his years of experience, his passion for music, and his earnest desire to make every moment count. It’s his tried and true method used to deliver incredible memories for everyone in attendance. Oh, and be sure to ask him about the name of his high school band. It’s just as amazing as you would expect it to be.
