Frequently Asked Questions
about Bar/Bat Mitzvahs
You have so many packages. How
do I know which one to Choose? The larger the package the more
entertainment we provide. If you wish to have a low key affair, with fewer
guests, our 1st package is right for you. If you are having a larger guest
count (over 20 kids) or if you like the idea of more activities for kids and
adults, the larger packages offer much more of an entertainment value. Feel
free to share your thoughts with our staff and we would be happy to recommend
the package that is right for you.
I noticed your packages come
with some props. What are they?
We include many props,
prizes and the like that enhance the games and activities we perform. They may
include but are not limited to leis, maracas and tambourines, inflatable
guitars and instruments, inflatable shoes and many other items to enhance our performance.
I'm going to need a lot of
guidance planning this event. Can you help? One of the most
important services we offer, which is part of hiring our DJ's, is the
assistance of our office staff. Since we have been involved with hundreds of
Bar and Bat Mitzvahs we have a lot of experience we are happy to share. We'll
help you carefully plan every detail.
The kids love their music, but
what about the adults? How can you possibly make everyone happy? Our
years of experience help us out here. We like to concentrate on the kids
favorites that the adults may not dance to during cocktail or game time. We
also find there are a lot of crossover tunes that work for all. Involving the
kids in a swing contest, bringing on motown and disco skits, playing beach
music (beach boys, sixties hits) and when dancing starts playing music that
will involve everyone is our secret. We can also utilize traditional group
dances such as Yesh, and Mayim, Mayim to get all age groups involved.
Will the DJ play our
requests? Absolutely. Contrary to the beliefs of some people, WE
KNOW it's your day. Your DJ will play the songs that you've requested and steer
clear of those that you've asked us to avoid. With your permission, they will
take your guests requests as well, provided they fit within the music program
you've designed.
What if we want to hear a song
that's not on the playlist? Beyond what you see on our music list,
we have a master music library that contains more than 1 million songs,
virtually everything popular from the Big Band Era to today's Top 40. We
subscribe to the same music services all the popular radio stations use, with
the same clean edits (no bad words). Our music list is never fully updated, so
if you don't see a particular selection, call us, there's a good chance that
it's in our library.
What does the equipment look
like? You'll be happy to know that we believe in filling the room
with sound NOT equipment. Our CD sound systems are attractive, compact and
deliver high quality coverage. They include a wireless microphone for all of
your announcements and toasts. You will not need to supply cables or tables,
only an outlet. Plus, we take the time to hide all of the wires and cables out
of site.
Our cocktail hour is going to
be in a separate room from the reception. Is that a problem? No. We
suggest that you opt for us to set up a second sound system which allows for
uninterrupted music as your guests mingle and enjoy hors d'oeuvres.
What if, due to an emergency,
my MC can't make it to the event? If the DJ is admitted to the
hospital with two broken legs and pneumonia, we will send our on-call DJ to
your reception (this happens to be Brian Doyle, the founder of Denon &
Doyle). Though rarely used, we have a DJ on-call 365 days of the year, just in
case. In our 20 year history, D & D has never missed an event.
Our event will be held in
Santa Cruz, do you travel? Yes. We travel throughout California and
charge a reasonable travel fee to locations outside of the Bay Area. There is
no travel fee for events held in the Bay Area.
