Kyle Don Allan
Three first names, one cool cat
He likes to mix business and pleasure. For example, eating is
big for him (though you wouldn't know it by looking at him). He also loves the
nightlife, he loves to boogie. Result: He's working toward owning a
restaurant/night club, either in the heat of Las Vegas or beneath the swaying
palm trees of Hawaii.
Before you go making reservations at the CocoKyle, understand
this is a long-term goal. He's, ahem, a sophomore in junior college right now.
But one has to dream, right? And being young doesn't mean he lacks vision. He
says he sees himself having fun his entire life -- even when he's, like, 60.
The vital thing to know about him as a DJ is he doesn't let his
lack of rhythm stop him. He can dance, no doubt. He just can't, you know,
"dance-dance". That never keeps him from bouncing around from behind the mixing
board.
"I'm not the greatest," he says. "But I will strut my stuff."
Part of that stuff includes a deeper understanding of what makes
a party go. It's not just music, like he thought it would be when he first
started going out to events. It's about engaging the crowd, giving them
permission to party like they mean it. And that means everyone.
At one particular event, there was an older woman (we're
talking at least 60) who sat in her wheel chair at the edge of the dance floor.
It didn't take Kyle long to recognize the look on her face -- she wanted to be
out there. He put on a swing song, went right over to her and asked her to
dance. She took his hand and they swayed back and forth together (she even
helped him stay on the beat). The smile on her face lit up the room.
Undoubtedly, Kyle's mixed up by his own doing -- but we think
you'll like him like that.
