Sliding in Safely

Growing up on a farm in the Denver suburb of Parker, Colorado helped Bryan see life a little differently. Horses, chickens and peacocks make for, well, interesting neighbors. Things were a bit slower for him than most while growing up...except for the time he was skidding to a stop in his SUV on some of that black ice, begging out loud for his brakes to bite some asphalt when -- CRASH! He made contact...with the car in front of him. Always a giver, Bryan made sure to have plenty of liability insurance for the other guy. He, on the other hand, having no collision insurance for his own rig, made good use of public transportation for the next six months or so.

But if he thought that was tough times, he had another thing coming. He has watched his father go through chemotherapy for cancer three times and come out a survivor. His father, who Bryan happily says is doing well today, has taught him with his words and actions that sometimes life hands you tough times. And you simply deal with them.

For kicks, Bryan likes soccer. The traveling team he played with in his youth took him around the country. He learned Canadians really do say “eh” and that Bostonians do occasionally pahk the cah in Hahvid yahd. Out of all the places he visited, though, California was the one that put moving ants in his pants. Now bitten by the Bay Area bug, he’s not looking back...unless he hears someone in a car sliding toward him speaking very loudly to his brakes.
