Andrew Verducci -- Hoop Dreamer

Picture a meat locker -- cold, steely, hard. Down at the end of the way is a scrappy little man punching sides of beef, snapping the ribs with his knuckles. The Italian Stallion, right? Yeah -- our Italian Stallion, Andrew Verducci.

This coconut is a gem -- hands of steel and a heart of gold. His favorite sport to play is basketball, which begs the question: which little man’s league does he play in? Not so fast, funny man. First off -- he’s not that short. Secondly, he uses what he’s got to his team’s highest good: great defense, a long-range jumper and most of all, his ability to listen, understand and adapt to the situation.

He brings those tools and more to weddings and parties as a DJ. He knows his role is not to be the one, but rather to provide the atmosphere that makes you feel like a star.

“I just reassure the client. I know they’ve got a lot going on -- it’s stressful. But you don’t have to worry about me; whatever you need, I’ll do.”

Beyond rocking the house on most Friday and Saturday nights for Denon & Doyle, he’s a graduate of St. Mary’s University and is currently pursuing his dream of teaching kids at the first grade level and coaching basketball in high school. He keeps a poster of Rocky and the words “Determination -- His life was a one in a million shot” on his wall at home.

“Some people don’t have a lot of hope. What I think, when I go to help kids who don’t have a lot of hope, is just because your family maybe isn’t doing too well doesn’t mean you can’t do well.”

Eh yo, Andrew! You’re alright, kid.
